After a lunch of cold cuts and salad, we reconvened to learn about another side of fired arts. Dixie Peterson taught us about glass bottle slumping. Dixie had several examples of different sized and shaped bottles, with lots of stories about how the different glasses react in the slumping. One of the most surprising is that the label on the Corona beer bottle does not burn out in the firing. Each student prepared a Coors beer bottle by writing or drawing on the bottle with a gold pen, then prepared the slump mold for firing. Musette arranged for firing overnight, so the bottles were ready to show the next morning.

The molds for the class were donated by Circle D Ceramics. The bottles were "donated" by a local bar (and cleaned by the Circle D crew).
