About Denny Wilson

Denny Wilson started his ceramic career as a part time greenware caster for the Potters Wheel Ceramic studio located in Colorado Springs in 1979.

His wife, another couple, and he bought a small Hobby Ceramic store in 1983. They together built this store, Circle D Ceramics, Inc., from a 1000 sq ft location with the greenware casting done in the Wilson's basement to its present 6000 sq ft location in an 8000 sq ft building owned by Circle D Ceramics.

Some of Denny's responsibilities at Circle D Ceramics are as follows: kiln and pottery equipment sales and repair; facility maintenance-to include the design and building of slip making and casting equipment; knowledge and sales of Ceramic materials for the low fire cast ware-commonly know as hobby ceramics--and pottery; design and testing of earthenware slips; and the manufacturing of earthenware, stoneware and Raku slips.

Denny is certified in product knowledge with Duncan Ceramics and Mayco Colors. He has attended many seminars in both the hobby ceramic and pottery areas. He is a member of the International Association of Duncan Certified Ceramic Teachers, (I.A.D.C.C.T.) with memberships in the Rocky Mountain, Aussies Down Under-Australia--and White Rose-England--chapters.

He is a self-taught potter with a lot of help from many potters, but especially from Musette Young.

Musette and Denny developed a successful Raku seminar and have been teaching together since 1998. Denny makes many of the glazes used in the seminar, and designed one of the kilns he and Musette built for their seminars. He also designed and built a portable base for that kiln.

Denny loves to help others understand and do Raku, and in his words, "I'm getting paid for having fun."
